David Bowie is about as stylish as they come, and his music is pretty kick ass. Almost as good as Bowie is Brazilian singer Seu Jorge covering his tunes in Portuguese. "Rebel Rebel" is one of my top songs of all time, but check out this cover, from "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou," and prepare to be impressed.
In case your Tivo is broken...
Shear Genius: We're a few weeks into the second season of one of the lower tier of Bravo's reality shows, and amazingly enough I like this show better the second time around. Are the contestants likable? No. Are the challenges insipid? Yes. Does it matter? No. At the end of the day it's always fun to watch bitchy people spar, and the makeover aspect of the show is entertaining, especially when half the people turn out worse after the makeover. We're betting on Dee to win it all.
The Hills finale: We can't believe season three is really over, what are we going to do all summer without "The HIlls"? We'll have to get our fill by scanning the magazines at the drug store, which are amazingly quick to keep up with every petty insult and fake breakup that happens to our favorite girls. All in all this season rocked; what could top a trip to Paris? So what was everyone up to as the season closed? Audrina was considering moving out of the guest house of Lauren's pad because she's upset at how Lo treats her and feels excluded. We don't blame her, Los is none to nice to simple Audrina. Meanwhile, Heidi and Spencer made up from their fake breakup, which was as anti-climactic as watching butter melt in the microwave. Who really cares anymore? I wish someone would let Heidi and her fake boobs walk on over to another show. We're thinking "Flavor of Love."
Gossip Girl 5/19: After a half season of catfights, cheating and revelations about Serena's inner demons, we were kinda disappointed with the season finale. They seemed to wrap things up with Georgina pretty quickly and efficiently. One minute she's there, the next she's being carted off by her parents. So anticlimactic! The show then plodded along through Lily's wedding to Barf, I mean Bart, and ended with a mind-boggling breakup between Serena and Dan, and Chuck going back to his women-chasing ways. Eh, not impressed.
America's Next Top Model finale: Another season come and gone, and a huge surprise! Against all odds, a plus-size girl nabbed the top spot. We know Tyra has a soft spot for bigger girls, but we were genuinely surprised when one actually was named Top Model. But Whitney was a good pick. She's a beautiful girl with a big personality, another one of Tyra's pet preferences. Who knew? Bigger girls get love too when it comes to TV modeling. If only the fashion industry felt the same.
10. The Graduate: The movie oozes style, from Dustin Hoffman lounging in the pool to Anne Bancroft's leopard-spotted coat
9. Rosemary's Baby: At least Mia Farrow suffered in style
8. Great Expectations: A film in which the color green is elevated to a plot point. Check out the amazing art work
7. Ocean's Twelve: Catherine Zeta-Jones had great hair and even better red espadrilles
6. My Wife is an Actress: If you're curious as to why Charlotte Gainsbourgh is the darling of designers, check out this bittersweet comedy
5. Possession: Academic style on a non-academic budget. Gwyneth glows in cashmere and tweed
4. Bonnie and Clyde: Faye Dunaway was never so beautiful, and neither was Warren Beatty
3. Pretty in Pink: Not a fan of her homemade prom dress, but always a fan of Duckie
2. Roman Holiday: Another timeless haircut, and the ultimate gamine style
1. Annie Hall: The scene where Diane Keaton takes us back through looks past is priceless. From astronaut's wife to hippie, she captured each look with style to spare
